School is back in session, and that means my days and nights just got crazy and busy. It also means fall is right around the corner–and so is football season! Fall is my favorite for so many reasons, but especially for the crisp, cooler weather (which I am in desperate need of right now!), AND for the fun, family-and-friends get-togethers that happen during football season.
I love cozying up on the couch with friends and family to cheer on our favorite teams, but I definitely don’t have hours and hours to create an elaborate watch party set up every single weekend. Luckily, Sam’s Club is coming to the rescue with their Family Pizza Combo!
You’ll find this pizza bundle at the Sam’s Club cafe, and to say it is a great deal is DEFINITELY an understatement! For $13.98, you get a 16″ pizza with your choice of toppings, cheesy breadsticks, a six-pack of chocolate chip cookies, and a 2-liter of Coca-Cola. It’s a complete meal that’s perfect not only for football-watching, but for a quick weeknight meal as well. It’s perfect for those days when I’m just exhausted from wrangling 250 twelve year-olds, and I just don’t want to cook.
I picked up the Sam’s Club Family Pizza Combo the other day, and put together a super-simple football party in no time at all. I pulled out my trusty astro-turf table runner (made with white tape), some football cake topper toys, and football napkins and cups, and I was practically ready to go in no time.
To add an extra fun touch, I created a few simple DIY Football Mason Jars to hold straws and utensils (and serve as a super cute centerpiece as well).
To make your own, you will need:
- glass mason jars
- glass acrylic paint in black, green, and brown
- white permanent paint marker
- stencil tape
- Start by painting each mason jar a solid color–I did one black, one brown, and one green jar.
I used a sponge brush to evenly brush the paint onto the jars. I applied two coats of paint, letting the paint dry thoroughly in between each coat.
2. After the jars have thoroughly dried, place stencil tape on the jars to help make straight lines. On the brown jar, I placed tape in a line going down the center, then small strips across to make the lacing on the football.
On the green jar, I placed tape in lines going horizontally around the jar to simulate the yard lines on the field. I left the black jar alone, since I was planning to freehand its design.
3. Using the paint marker, draw the laces onto the brown jar, the yard lines onto the green jar, and Xs and Os (in a football playbook style) on the black jar. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry.
Ta-da! Place straws and utensils inside the jars and place in the center of your table.
I love how adorable this tablescape is–we’re actually leaving it up for the month of September to celebrate the start of football season! We’ll also be picking up the Family Pizza Combo with Sam’s Club and Coca-Cola a few times in the coming months to keep us satisfied while we cheer on our teams! Find your local Sam’s Club here.
